报告摘要:作为标准模型中的大块头(质量最重的粒子),急脾气(在形成强子之前就衰变),顶夸克从1995发现以来,一直深受理论学家和实验学家的关注,提出了多个理论和实验来寻找其超大质量的起源,以及利用其急脾气的特点,突破夸克禁闭,探寻裸夸克的性质。大型强子对撞机是真正意义上的顶夸克工厂,目前已经收集到世界上最大统计量的顶夸克事例。本讲座将介绍大型强子对撞机上顶夸克的研究成果,揭示顶夸克的神秘面纱。

报告人简介:

张华桥,高能物理研究所青年海外高层次人才副研究员,2003年毕业于武汉大学物理学基地班,2008年毕业于高能物理研究所和艾克斯-马赛第二大学,后在法国马赛粒子物理中心,美国密西根州立大学做博士后,2013年加入高能物理研究所,2014年2月获中组部“青年海外高层次人才”。2005年以来先后参与大型强子对撞机上的ATLAS和CMS实验,主要从事顶夸克相关物理研究和承担中国CMS组高粒度量能器的建造项目。

 

 

Abstract: As the “Big Man” (the heaviest particle) and “Bad Temper” (decay before becoming a part of hadron) of Standard Model, top quark always attracts the attention from theoretic and experimental physicists since his discovery in 1995. Several theories and experiments were proposed to find the basic reason, why top quark has the huge mass. In addition, physicists take advantage of his “Bad Temper” to break the confinement, to research the nature of single quark. LHC is the real top quark factory and recorded the largest dataset of top quark all over the world. This report will introduce the research results of top quark at LHC and unravel the mysteries of top quark.

Prof. Huaqiao Zhang, Deputy Researcher (project “Thousands of young people”) at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the Training Class, Department of Physics, Wuhan University in 2003. 2008 he graduated from the Institute of High Energy Physics and Université de la Méditerranée: Aix-Marseille 2. Then he did the postdoctoral research at the Center for Particle Physics of Marseilles in France and Michigan State University in the USA. Since 2013 he did his further research at the Institute of High Energy Physics. In February 2014, he became the member of project “Thousands of young people” of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. Since 2005 he participated the ATLAS and CMS experiment at LHC and directed the research for top quark and construction of the High Granularity Calorimeter for CMS experiment on behalf of Chinese collaboration.
