摘要:
Existence of sterile neutrino is one of the most intriguing questions in the field of neutrino physics. They don't take part in weak interactions, however, undergo mixing with active neutrinos, and therefore are potentially detectable. Discovery of sterile neutrino can resolve a number of puzzles in recent neutrino experiments. Two experiments are under preparation at Institute for Nuclear Research of Russian Academy of Science. Baksan Experiment on Sterile Transitions (BEST) is looking for active-sterile neutrino oscillations on 1 m baseline. This experiment is mostly sensitive to 1-eV scale sterile neutrinos, which is the most favorable region according to nowadays knowledge. The other one, called NuMix is aimed to observe predicted tritium beta spectrum distortion caused by existence of sterile neutrinos. It is sensitive to 1-10 keV mass sterile neutrinos, which are among the most natural candidates for dark-matter particles.

Dr. Malyshkin graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2011. Three years later, in 2014 he defended his PhD at Goethe University of Frankfurt, where he worked on Monte Carlo simulation of accelerator-driven systems, in particular on their application for transmutation of minor actinides. After completion of his PhD work he accepted a postdoc position in Catholic University of Chile and joined the Daya Bay and JUNO collaborations. He is also collaborating with Institute for Nuclear Research of Russian Academy of Science since 2008 and participating in activities of the SAGE collaboration.
